Hello! Nice to meet you, we are weavearth.
We were born as a collaborative project: delivering products created with the finest expertise in linen and hemp, combined with the latest advanced technologies, and—together with those who receive our message—taking small steps toward a circular society, inspired by the wisdom of this ancient yet ever-new fabric.
First, let us share a little about ourselves. Our parent company, AKAI Co., Ltd., was founded in 1911 as a wholesaler of linen and hemp yarns and woven textiles. Not long after its establishment, the company built its own factory, and for more than 100 years it has navigated the textile industry as a specialized trading company dedicated to producing and selling yarns and fabrics made from linen and hemp.

Although the company originally stood at the “upstream” of the industry, in 2008 it began producing finished products. It established a production line that could handle the entire process—from yarn to ready-made garments—using the uniquely challenging fibers of linen and hemp. Many of its clients have been high-quality, high-sensitivity select shops in Japan.

From the 2000s onward, natural, gentle, elegant, and refined linen became an indispensable fabric for clothing in our wardrobes, and many “linen brands” were born in Japan, earning strong support. Meanwhile, in the 2020s, within the powerful tide of rising awareness of environmental issues such as the climate crisis, greater attention has turned to linen and hemp—crops with low environmental impact and of natural origin. In this era of great change, linen and hemp are being called upon to take on new roles more than ever before.
At weavearth, we hope to communicate those roles of linen and hemp within this current tide—through our original products, which embody both the latest expertise and the wisdom of history, and which bring new ideas into reality.
