循環型繊維素材:LiLoop開発をスタートしました

Development of LiLoop, a circular fiber material, has begun

What the fashion industry has overlooked

The problem of mass production and waste in the fashion industry is not limited to disposable clothing.

The production process from raw materials to clothing is also built into the waste system. Consciousness of recycling and reusing clothing is increasing, but in many cases, the light is still not reaching the surface of waste textiles generated during the production process.

For example, in the fabric distribution industry, fabric samples called "swatches" and "feelers" are available in many colors for the same material. For most apparel, it has become common to choose your favorite color from these and then commercialize it.

As a result, the fabrics of the unselected colors do not make it into clothing. What happens to these so-called "unsold" items afterwards?

Once again, questioning the obvious

In addition, there are certain quality standards for fabrics that are sold through such multiple intermediate distributors.Fabrics with many defects at various stages are not distributed and are often discarded.

The amount of "waste" generated during the production process of these textile products is enormous, comparable to (or even greater than) the amount of waste generated from the sale of ready-made clothing.

Of course, weavearth's production process also faces many challenges.

Linen waste material is recycled into the Liloop circulation system

However, we have decided to start the "LiLoop Project", a program to recycle these textile products and semi-finished products that are in the disposal process back into the regular production process, turning them into products.

(The photo shows the first finished weaving being checked on the newly unlaid grey fabric.)

Linen materials that were destined for disposal are now looped (circulated) = Re-Looped.

Please keep an eye on the development of this big challenge, "LiLoop."
